Terms of Use
Version 1.1 • Last updated 21 September 2026
1. About HIA
HIA – Handball in Analysis is a digital service designed to help coaches and other authorised users organise teams, collect match events and review handball performance information. The service is provided by Willian Ferrari, responsible for HIA – Handball in Analysis, in Portugal.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account, accepting an invitation or using HIA, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. Material updates may require renewed acknowledgement or acceptance.
3. Eligibility, authority and invitations
You must have legal capacity to accept these Terms. If you use HIA on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so. Invitations are personal and may not be sold, transferred or shared without permission.
4. Account security
You must provide accurate information and keep credentials and devices secure. You are responsible for activity through your account unless you promptly notify HIA of suspected unauthorised access.
5. Permitted use and prohibited conduct
You may use HIA only for lawful handball-related purposes. You must not access another user’s data, interfere with the service, bypass security, introduce malicious code, perform abusive scraping, overload infrastructure, resell access without permission or infringe third-party rights. Except where mandatory law permits otherwise, you must not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, systematically reproduce or extract protected elements, proprietary analytical models or methodologies, or use them to create a substantially similar competing product.
6. User responsibility for team and player information
You are responsible for information you enter into HIA and must ensure an appropriate legal basis, authority and required notices or permissions. Information must be accurate, relevant and limited to what is necessary, with particular care for children or young players. Do not enter special-category or highly sensitive data unless expressly supported and legally justified.
7. Data protection roles and DPA
Where you or your organisation determines why and how third-party personal data is entered into HIA, you or your organisation may act as controller and HIA may act as processor. HIA may separately act as controller for account administration, security, billing, legal compliance and support. Where Article 28 GDPR applies, the HIA Data Processing Agreement forms part of the contractual framework.
8. Match analysis and reports
Statistics, charts, timelines, HIA Process outputs and reports depend on user-entered information, configured parameters and correct use. HIA does not guarantee outputs are complete or error-free or suitable as the sole basis for sporting, medical, employment, contractual, selection, disciplinary or safeguarding decisions.
9. Research, statistics and product development
HIA may use effectively anonymised data or aggregated statistics for scientific research, education, benchmarking, product development and service improvement. Identifiable personal data will not be published for those purposes without an appropriate legal basis and, where required, permission.
10. User content and service operation licence
You retain rights you lawfully hold in content entered into HIA. You grant HIA a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free licence to process that content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, support and maintain the service, comply with law and exercise rights described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy. This does not transfer ownership to HIA.
11. HIA intellectual property and proprietary methods
The HIA name, logos, visual identity, website, application, software, architecture, database structures, interfaces, documentation, original graphics, charts, report layouts, text and original platform content are owned by HIA or used under authorisation. The HIA Process, its structure, methodology, contextual evaluation approach, weighting logic, configuration concepts, analytical relationships, presentation methods and related know-how remain proprietary to HIA to the extent protected by applicable law. User-owned match and team data do not become HIA property. Access grants only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose.
12. Third-party services and subprocessors
HIA may rely on Google/Firebase, Google Cloud, Stripe and Resend, depending on the feature used. Providers processing personal data on HIA’s behalf will be subject to appropriate arrangements as required by law. Their availability may be outside HIA’s direct control.
13. Availability, maintenance and changes
HIA may be updated, corrected, suspended, limited or modified to improve security, functionality, compatibility or compliance. Uninterrupted or error-free access cannot be guaranteed.
14. Backups, exports and data loss
HIA may use reasonable backup and recovery measures, but no online service can guarantee data will never be lost, corrupted or unavailable. Users remain responsible for retaining copies of important reports or information.
15. Suspension and termination
Access may be restricted, suspended or terminated for security risks, suspected unlawful activity, misuse, non-payment, breach of these Terms or legal requirements. Where reasonably possible and appropriate, HIA will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy.
16. Disclaimer and limitation of responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, HIA is provided on an “as available” and “as is” basis. HIA is not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate or unlawful user-entered data, decisions based solely on generated outputs, compromised credentials, unsupported devices, third-party failures, events outside reasonable control or use contrary to these Terms. Nothing excludes liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
17. Indemnity for unlawful user conduct
To the extent permitted by law, a professional or organisational user is responsible for claims, losses or reasonable costs arising from unlawful content, lack of authority to process third-party information, infringement of third-party rights or material breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by HIA’s own unlawful conduct.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable Portuguese and European Union law. Legally competent Portuguese courts have jurisdiction without affecting mandatory consumer, data-protection or jurisdiction rights.
19. General provisions
If any provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remainder stays effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Users may not transfer accounts or rights without permission. HIA may transfer the service as part of a lawful reorganisation or business transfer subject to applicable law.
